I had the pleasure of being an invited guest by singer/songwriter/musician Mikalyn to a house concert in Guelph, Ontario.
She and CJ Cooper performed single and duo sets of their original compositions and some covers. Mikalyn also performed two new, soon-to-be-released songs. The first one of which, I feel is going to be very popular, both in the “sound” and the lyrics.
It turned out to be a bonus occasion as it was CJ’s 10th anniversary as a performing musician (doing what she loves the best), and so it was an honour to be a guest at her “anniversary performance”. Congrats CJ on 10 years.
Our hosts and all those I met were welcoming and friendly, making it a very pleasurable experience for me.
Both Mikalyn and CJ have expressed that they feel very fortunate to be located in a region that supports the arts.
Speaking of the arts, I want to communicate the following on CJ’s behalf:
CJ received a grant from Guelph Arts Council to enable her to host “Women In Music 2023”. The event will be held at ONYX nightclub on Friday August 4th, 2023 from 7 to 10 pm.
It’s planned to be a fun night of music and prizes, and will highlight some amazing female creators and businesses in the community.
It’s a free show with admission donations going to the Guelph-Wellington Women In Crisis Shelter.
